  • Physicians’ OpenMRI offers scanning in two next generation MRIs including the FujiFilm Oasis VELOCITY Open MRI and SYNERGY series semi-closed-bore high-field MRI.

  • The referring physician is responsible for obtaining insurance authorization for the study.

  • We accept most major insurances. Notable exceptions include Medicaid programs including Fidelis as well as Workman’s Compensation and No Fault.

  • We will require a completed personal physician prescription or requisition form from this website stating the type of study as well as whether contrast is indicated and appropriate billing code. Insurance authorization is to be completed by the referring physician. We will also require patient demographics and insurance information. Copays and deductibles are to be paid at the time of the MRI.

  • These devices require clearance from our technologist and radiologist. Please fax or portal message the device card containing the make, model and serial number. Compatible devices can only be scanned on the closed bore Synergy system. PLEASE BRING REMOTE CONTROLS IN ORDER TO SET YOUR DEVICE IN “MRI MODE”

  • Unfortunately our facility can not image patients with either pacemakers or defibrillators, even if they are MRI conditional.

  • Please contact us before coming for your appointment. Some of these devices are MRI compatible whereas others have to be removed before imaging and therefore we advise imaging be scheduled on a day when the device is to be changed.

  • Our next generation scanners can perform a MRI brain in as little as 10 minutes, MRA head in as little as 8 minutes and MRI spine from 11-15 minutes without contrast. Depending on the extent of the imaging ordered times can range from 8 to 60 minutes.

  • Yes both MRI machines offer high fidelity sound systems.

  • We recommend leaving all jewelry at home including watches and iDevices. Metal hair extensions should be removed before scanning. Hearing aids are not permitted in the scanner. We also advise removing any piercings prior to scanning.

  • The majority of MRIs performed at Physicians’ OpenMRI are read by our board certified radiologist within 24 hours.

  • Yes, please inform our desk if your wish to receive a CD of your imaging at the time of the scan.

  • Most body parts can be scanned at Physicians’ OpenMRI. Notable exceptions include abdominal studies, cardiac MRI, and MRCP.

  • Yes, most joint replacements and internal prosthetics are MRI compatible. Please inform our techs if you have these devices, as we can provide metal-suppressing sequences when imaging body parts with surgical prosthetics to enhance image quality.

  • Yes, there is no need for refrain from food or beverage before the MRI.

  • We have a quiet personal area where you will be provided with your personal locker and key at the time of the scan.

  • We do not offer sedation for our MRI scans. However if your physician has provided you with an oral sedative, it may be taken prior to the scan.

  • Unfortunately we do not participate with Workman’s Compensation or No Fault

  • Yes we will permit someone to stay with you during the MRI as long as that individual does not have a contraindication to MRI.
